Ticks
are second only to mosquitoes in vectors of numerous human and animal
pathogens. viruses, spirochetes, bacteria, rickettsiae, protozoa and filariasis
nematodes etc.Crimean Congo has hemorrhagic fever, anaplasmosis, thalassemia
and bipolar disorder caused deaths in humans and animals. Therefore, this study
was conducted to test the prevalence. Tick and tick-borne diseases in Punjab,
Pakistan. Sargodha district were selected from eachzones of Punjab.
The
study was conceded out in all tehsils. These places are well-known especially
for dairy farms, this area also comprises of 2 Universities and Government
hospitals, assessmentstudy were carried out in these places. Data was collected
from three different peoples who are associated with animals differently. Data
was collected from herdsmen, health professionals and public. 200 respondents
were selected from each type.
Results showed that most of the herdsmen know
much about the tick and tick borne diseases however, most of them had lower
monthly income so their living standard is not good. Most of the herdsmen
stated that the tick infection weakens the animals. Moreover, there was no
complete differentiation for animal’s vaccination for tick infection between
illiterate and middle or matriculated. Similarly, health professionals
suggested that the tick infection transmit from one person to other who have a
close relation with animals.
Most of the doctors suggested that surgical
treatments are available and tweezers also have beneficial effects on persons
affected with ticks. Most of the public respondents were students or teachers.
Most of the teachers and students from rural areas have knowledge about ticks
and tick borne diseases as compared to urban respondents. Most of teachers and
rural students also can differentiate between ticks and mite. It is concluded
that some highly educated herdsmen with high income can understand about
infectious diseases and perform good for their animals. If a person gets tick
infection, he must consult to a doctor for better treatment.
